What to Say to Angry Kids: Advice from a Child Psychologist

It’s a tough job dealing with a child’s anger. As someone who’s worked with kids, I’ve seen that anger is more than just being upset. It’s actually a message about things like feeling hurt or not being treated right.

Think about when you were last mad. It made sense to you, didn’t it?

But it’s really key to learn how to show anger in a healthy way. Here are three things parents should say to their kids when they’re angry:

“I see why this upsets you, and I’m here to help.”

For us adults, being mad might not be a big thing, but for kids, it can feel really intense and unfair. Letting them know you get their feelings is so important. This understanding helps them deal with their emotions in a better way.
