Famous actor and martial artist Chuck Norris turned 83 years old this year, but he’s still kicking butt and taking names. The star of films like The Way of the Dragon and TV’s Walker, Texas Ranger stays incredibly fit and healthy despite his advancing age. What’s his secret?

Norris was born in 1940 and began studying martial arts in Korea in the 1950s during his time in the military. He continued practicing and teaching martial arts when he returned home, eventually earning black belts in multiple disciplines like Tang Soo Do, Brazilian jiu jitsu and Judo.

Physical fitness has always been central to his life. Now in his 80s, Norris still works out for about two hours every single day. His routine includes strength training, cardio, core work and martial arts practice. He emphasizes controlled, fluid motions over heavy weight lifting these days to protect his joints.

Diet is another pillar for Norris. He sticks to natural, whole foods like vegetables, fruits, lean proteins and healthy fats. He avoids processed foods, excessive salt and sugar. Plenty of water keeps him hydrated.

This active lifestyle is part of what keeps Norris strong and capable decades past when most others start slowing down… but he’s got another secret that he says is critical to his vitality.

“THIS is the key to healthy aging,” says Norris. “I’m living proof.”
