Pesticides on your food may be making you fat

That shiny red apple looks perfect, but it likely has an invisible chemical residue that may surprise you – glyphosate, the active ingredient in weed killers like Roundup. While it eliminates weeds, evidence shows glyphosate could also wreak havoc on your gut health and metabolism.

This commonly used herbicide has been linked to altered gut bacteria and impaired insulin levels in both farm workers and regular consumers. It works by destroying certain microbes in your microbiome, which can create an imbalance leading to increased fat storage.

Glyphosate tricks your body into holding onto more calories, similar to the weight gain effect of antibiotics. It’s routinely sprayed on GMO crops like corn, wheat and soybeans. So even if the produce looks pristine, you may be exposed through residues.

What to do? Click here for surprising facts on glyphosate’s impact on your health, including what you can do about it.
